Lauderdale is located approximately 25 miles (40 kilometres) southeast of Edinburgh in the Scottish Borders and includes the townships of Oxton, Lauder and Blainslie.
The Lauderdale Development Trust was established in 2004 for the purpose of improving the social, economic and environmental well-being of Lauderdale. In 2006 it was registered in Scotland as a company limited by guarantee.
The LDT aims to become self-sustaining through trading as a social enterprise.
